# Tottenham Hotspur: Reports suggest ‘special’ star doesn’t have a future under Mourinho

**According to recent reports, Tottenham Hotspur defender Davinson Sanchez does not have a future at Spurs under Jose Mourinho.**

Since arriving at Spurs from Ajax in what was a [£37.8 million deal](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/davinson-sanchez/transfers/spieler/341429) back in 2017, Sanchez has gone on to feature 129 times for the north London side, [chipping in with one goal and providing one assist](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/davinson-sanchez/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/341429) along the way.

However, so far this season, the [£36 million-rated](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/davinson-sanchez/marktwertverlauf/spieler/341429) 24-year-old has often found himself left out of Tottenham’s Premier League matchday squads, having [not featured in the league](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/davinson-sanchez/leistungsdaten/spieler/341429) since the club’s 3-3 draw with West Ham United back in October.

And, according to a recent report by [Caracol Radio](https://caracol.com.co/radio/2020/12/20/deportes/1608472465_977444.html) (via [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/tottenham-player-not-good-time-spurs-erased-jose-mourinho/)), the defender, who former Spurs midfielder Jermaine Jenas described while speaking on BBC radio as ‘[special](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40978395)‘ upon his signing for the club, has now been ‘erased’ by Mourinho, with the report also stating that the 57-year-old’s phasing out of the centre-back has ‘devalued’ the Colombia international by a whopping third of his original market value.

### Transfer Tavern Take

Considering the fact that Sanchez is reported to be learning [£65,000 per week](https://www.spotrac.com/epl/tottenham-hotspur-fc/payroll/) at Tottenham, as well as currently being valued at [£36 million](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/davinson-sanchez/marktwertverlauf/spieler/341429), if it is indeed true that Mourinho does not plan to use the defender going forwards, a January departure would appear incredibly likely, be that on loan or on a permanent deal.

And, with [The Sun](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/13395173/davinson-sanchez-ac-milan-transfer-tottenham-talk/) reporting that Serie A giants AC Milan are interested in the centre-back, perhaps there is an immediate way out for Sanchez from Spurs.
