# Tottenham Hotspur: Son advances over new deal after Fabrizio Romano claim

**According to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-tottenham-in-advanced-talks-to-agree-mega-deal/), Tottenham Hotspur and Son Heung-min are in advanced talks to agree a new mega deal worth a reported £200,000-per-week – coming after reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed the talks were set to go ahead last week ([The Guardian](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/nov/11/tottenham-start-talks-son-heung-min-200000-a-week-deal?CMP=share_btn_tw)).**

Son, who has been revelation for Spurs this season, partnering Harry Kane to devastating effect in the forward positions, could now be tied down with a new contract.

### Son in advanced talks

The South Korea star is currently on around [£140,000-per-week](https://www.spotrac.com/epl/tottenham-hotspur-fc/), earning far less than star studded teammates Kane, Tanguy Ndombele and Gareth Bale.

Given his enormous contribution in a Lilywhites shirt over the past few seasons, chairman Daniel Levy looks set to rectify that – with Football Insider now claiming both the club and player are in advanced talks over a new deal.

Coming after Paul Robinson waxed lyrical over how this move is ‘[amazing news for Spurs](https://www.footballinsider247.com/its-amazing-news-exclusive-robinson-wowed-by-huge-tottenham-reveal/)‘, it could also prove Romano correct in his report from last week that Tottenham had indeed planned to commence talks with Son.

### Transfer Tavern take

Described as one of Spurs’ ‘[very underrated’](https://www.anfieldwatch.co.uk/very-underrated-player-pundit-names-spurs-player-that-he-believes-could-play-for-liverpool/) stars when compared to the likes of Kane and Bale, the 28-year-old seems to be on the verge of a new deal which could excite Lilywhites.

Alongside Kane, the attacker has dazzled under manager Jose Mourinho this season – scoring a brilliant eight goals and assisting two others in just eight Premier League games ([WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/30/Show/England-Tottenham)).

When this new move is announced by the club is yet to be seen, but these recent reports indicate it is only a matter of time before Son is tied down with a new deal.
