# Tottenham: Antonio Conte ‘can’t wait’ to return to Juventus

**[Tottenham Hotspur](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/) manager Antonio Conte could be set for a shock exit after refusing to sign a new deal, according to reports in the last 48 hours.**

### The Lowdown: Making an instant impact

The 53-year-old arrived in the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) last November after taking over from former boss Nuno Espirito Santo, putting pen to paper on a [contract](https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/2021/october/antonio-conte-appointed-new-head-coach/) up until 2023, with the option to extend it for a further 12 months.

The Italian had a hugely successful first season in charge, guiding his team to a top-four finish and earning their return to the Champions League after a [two](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tottenham-hotspur/pokalhistorie/verein/148)-year absence.

### The Latest: Conte eyeing Juventus return

According to journalist Paolo Bargiggia (via [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/antonio-conte-not-renewing-tottenham-claim-spurs-manager-cant-wait-join-specific-club/)), Conte is ‘not renewing’ his deal at Tottenham as he eyes a move back to his former side Juventus.

The Serie A outfit’s current manager Massimiliano Allegri is under threat, with the source claiming that the hierarchy will ‘go straight to’ the Spurs coach should he be sacked, who ‘can’t wait to return’.

Daniel Levy offering Conte fresh terms ‘won’t be a surprise’ given the attention he’s receiving, though he doesn’t sound open to considering such a proposal at this moment in time.

### The Verdict: Tie him down

Tottenham have got off to a flying start this season, currently finding themselves third after going [unbeaten](https://www.skysports.com/tottenham-hotspur-results) in their opening six league games, which is why they need to act fast to tie Conte down if they don’t want to risk losing him.

The Lecce-born man has a hugely impressive record in north London, winning 26 and drawing seven of the 44 matches that he’s been in the dugout for ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/antonio-conte/leistungsdatenDetail/trainer/3517/plus/0?saison_id=&verein_id=148&liga=&wettbewerb_id=&trainer_id=)).

Conte’s decision to stay or leave the club could be riding on whether the Lilywhites manage to secure silverware come the end of the season, or at the very least another top four finish.
