# Tottenham: Joe Rodon now pushing for Spurs exit

**According to reports, [Tottenham Hotspur](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/) defender Joe Rodon is now said to be pushing for an exit from the club as the summer exodus begins.**

### The Lowdown: Free to leave

The Welshman was already on the periphery of first-team action under the management of Nuno Espirito Santo, and that situation hasn’t altered any since Antonio Conte arrived back in the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/).

The 24-year-old still has [three](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tottenham-hotspur/berateruebersicht/verein/148) years remaining on his contract in north London, but this [lack of game time](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joe-rodon/leistungsdaten/spieler/297212/plus/0?saison=2021) has seen him linked with a move away from the capital, with [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-tottenham-tell-joe-rodon-to-find-new-club/) reporting that the Lilywhites have told the centre-back that he is free to leave this window.

Nottingham Forest, Fulham and Wolves are all said to have expressed an [interest](https://www.spurs-web.com/spurs-news/journalist-names-three-premier-league-clubs-interested-in-joe-rodon-this-summer/) in the 6 foot 3 giant, and it sounds like he is very much willing to listen to offers.

### The Latest: Rodon wants out

In an article published by the [Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/tottenham-steven-bergwijn-ajax-transfer-b1010500.html), which covered Steven Bergwijn’s pending move to Ajax, it’s claimed that Rodon is ‘pushing’ for a Tottenham exit as a result of being ‘desperate’ to play regular football.

The source further states that he would be ‘open’ to the idea of a loan deal due to his World Cup aspirations with Wales later this year.

### The Verdict: Right decision to go

Conte has already started his player clear-out as he continues to build his new-look squad, with Bergwijn the first big name to [leave](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10989555/Tottenham-sell-Steven-Bergwijn-Ajax-28m-deal-winger-completes-medical.html) Spurs, and Rodon could be next to follow in his footsteps, whether it be on a temporary or permanent basis.

The [27](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joe-rodon/nationalmannschaft/spieler/297212)-cap international, [praised](https://twitter.com/robphillipshere/status/1374841786267545608?s=21&t=spxdC1nfOxBcjdgn3CE-CA) for a ‘colossal’ display by [BBC correspondent](https://twitter.com/robphillipshere) Rob Phillips, has only made [two](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joe-rodon/leistungsdatentrainer/spieler/297212/plus/0/trainer_id/3517) top-flight appearances under the Italian since November, so a move away could be the best option for both parties.

If Rodon wants to play a significant role for Wales under Rob Page in Qatar, it’s important that he gets some much-needed minutes under his belt, and that’s only likely to happen if he takes the leap and departs Hotspur Way.
