# Tottenham Hotspur: Spurs ready to beat Crystal Palace to sign Championship star

**Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring West Brom defender Nathan Ferguson after a move to Crystal Palace failed to materialise, according to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/tottenham-ready-launch-fresh-move-for-ferguson/).**

Palace were on the brink of signing him in [January](https://www.footballinsider247.com/tottenham-ready-launch-fresh-move-for-ferguson/), but the deal fell through, and Tottenham are now ready to make a move for Ferguson this summer.

The 19-year-old is widely expected to leave [the Hawthorns](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/west-brom-player-almost-certain-18387033) when his contract expires in July.

Ferguson will become a free agent next month, which will appeal to Spurs the most. Although he started the season as [a centre-half](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11688/11981614/west-broms-nathan-ferguson-efl-future-star), the 19-year-old can play on either flank.

While Palace are also likely to try to sign him again, a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is surely more attractive, amid interest from a number of European clubs including [AC Milan and Schalke](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/06/17/premier-league-returns-lockdowngrounds-optimism-guinea-pig-stadium/).

Despite [their troubles](https://theathletic.com/1849915/2020/06/04/tottenham-hotspur-loan-government-cashflow-coronavirus/), the Lilywhites still have the [financial power](https://www.footballinsider247.com/tottenham-ready-launch-fresh-move-for-ferguson/) to out-muscle the Eagles in a transfer battle.

[Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/tottenham-ready-launch-fresh-move-for-ferguson/) notes relations between the teenager and West Bromwich Albion have hit an all-time low, which is an opening Daniel Levy could exploit.

Following months of stagnant negotiations, Levy jumped on a plane to Croatia to convince Luka Modric, who was 22-years-old at the time, to move to White Hart Lane ([The Independent](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/european/tottenham-latest-news-luka-modric-real-madrid-champions-league-team-news-a8002696.html)).

The right-back position has proven to be particularly problematic, as Spurs have arguably struggled to fill the role since [Kyle Walker](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/tottenham-hotspur-nowrich-city-max-aarons-contact-report) left for Manchester City.

While Ferguson is yet to play at the same level as the England international, he has impressed for [Albion](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/tottenham-hotspur-nowrich-city-max-aarons-contact-report) over the course of the season so far.

Coupled with the fact he is currently available for [£4m](https://www.footballinsider247.com/tottenham-ready-launch-fresh-move-for-ferguson/) in compensation, he would certainly be a shrewd signing to make.
