# Tottenham Hotspur: Spurs want to sell Danny Rose and replace him with Dennis Cirkin instead

**Tottenham defender Danny Rose wants to stay at Spurs for the final year of his contract and play in front of the club’s fans for the last time.**

However, the 30-year-old left-back is not a part of [Jose Mourinho’s plans](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-transfer-rumours/tottenham-danny-ros-exit-inevitable-transfer-latest/) for the future and is considered surplus to requirements in north London. According to [The Guardian](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/aug/03/danny-rose-open-to-tottenham-stay-and-would-love-to-play-for-club-again), Spurs want to sell the [£14.4m](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/danny-rose/profil/spieler/50174)-valued defender to raise funds for new signings in the summer.

Rose, who is best friends with former Arsenal ace [Danny Welbeck](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-transfer-rumours/tottenham-hotspur-spurs-set-to-sell-danny-rose-amid-interest-from-premier-league-newcomers-leeds-united/), spent the second half of last season on loan at Newcastle United.

The Lilywhites tried to offload the England international [last year](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/aug/03/danny-rose-open-to-tottenham-stay-and-would-love-to-play-for-club-again), as the veteran was left out of a pre-season tour of [Asia](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/aug/03/danny-rose-open-to-tottenham-stay-and-would-love-to-play-for-club-again) to try and find a new club, but to no avail, and he admitted he wants to run down the rest of [his contract](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/aug/03/danny-rose-open-to-tottenham-stay-and-would-love-to-play-for-club-again).

[\[freshpress-poll id=”312582″\]](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/[freshpress-poll%20id=%22312582%22])

[Ben Davies](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/aug/03/danny-rose-open-to-tottenham-stay-and-would-love-to-play-for-club-again) has established himself as Mourinho’s first choice in his absence and the Spurs manager intends to use [Dennis Cirkin](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/aug/03/danny-rose-open-to-tottenham-stay-and-would-love-to-play-for-club-again) as injury cover. Summer signing [Ryan Sessegnon](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/tottenham-hotspur-alasdair-gold-delivers-verdict-on-dennis-cirkin-bad-news-for-sessegnon-opinion/) was dropped in favour of the 18-year-old for the game at home to Everton, as football.london correspondent [Alasdair Gold](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/tottenham-hotspur-alasdair-gold-delivers-verdict-on-dennis-cirkin-bad-news-for-sessegnon-opinion/) revealed the Portuguese admires the academy graduate.

Daniel Levy valued the Englishman at [£50m](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-5145101/Manchester-United-confident-50m-Danny-Rose-deal.html#ixzz50KpjoZJ7) several years ago, although he has suffered quite a [dramatic fall](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-transfer-rumours/tottenham-danny-ros-exit-inevitable-transfer-latest/) from grace ever since. The chairman is under no illusion that his [market value](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-transfer-rumours/tottenham-danny-ros-exit-inevitable-transfer-latest/) has stayed the same and is willing to sell him for [£5m](https://www.footballinsider247.com/tottenham-plan-to-sell-player-once-valued-at-50m-for-just-5m/) as he is not part of the club’s long-term vision.

At this stage in his career, his time in north London is [all but over](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-transfer-rumours/tottenham-danny-ros-exit-inevitable-transfer-latest/), and anything would be better than nothing. Rose showed he is still a top-class player during his loan spell at St James’ Park, as he played 11 games in the Premier League, averaging 1.9 tackles and 1 clearance per game (via [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/24711/Show/Danny-Rose)).

He will likely be a sought-after asset in the summer, as he would certainly be a cheaper option than Leicester City’s [Ben Chilwell](https://talksport.com/football/741369/leicester-ben-chilwell-chelsea-transfer-world-record/).

***Tottenham fans, should Daniel Levy sell Rose in the summer? Let us know in the comments below!***
