# Tottenham: Fabrizio Romano drops Youri Tielemans transfer update

**According to [transfer insider](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor) Fabrizio Romano, [Tottenham Hotspur](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/) are not prioritising a move for Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans this summer.**

### The Lowdown: Tielemans a wanted man

The Belgian has been linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium for most of the summer, with his contract with the Foxes set to expire in just under [12 months’ time](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/youri-tielemans/profil/spieler/249565). Tottenham’s [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) rivals Arsenal said to have been very keen on a deal, until it was [revealed](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/man-utd-tielemans-arsenal-transfer-27380357) that they have since cooled their interest.

It was reported by [Football.London](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/transfer-news/pau-torres-spence-mckennie-paqueta-24191212?_ga=2.236501121.1471010922.1657093571-1514961136.1652277272) that the Lilywhites were planning on hijacking the Gunners’ bid for the 25-year-old, but nothing ended up materialising. After a fresh update, it looks as though Conte’s focus now lies elsewhere.

### The Latest: Romano drops Tielemans update

Speaking to [GiveMeSport](https://www.givemesport.com/88030710-tottenham-not-prioritising-49-5m-premier-league-star-at-hotspur-way), Romano revealed that Tottenham will be pursuing their other targets rather than Tielemans in the coming weeks.

The Italian transfer guru said: “I see a lot of stories but at the moment I don’t have any confirmation on Tottenham \[the club’s links with Tielemans\] and I think they’re focused on signing a right-back and centre-back with \[Clément\] Lenglet after also signing Richarlison, so it’s not a priority for them.”

### The Verdict: Conte’s already done plenty

Conte has already secured the signing of Yves Bissouma, so it’s understandable that a move for Leicester’s [£49.5m-rated](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/youri-tielemans/marktwertverlauf/spieler/249565) Belgian – who was once [dubbed](https://twitter.com/buntingfootball/status/1452552186248970242?s=21&t=LHS_E6BLp9ZbDKErLZqQxA) a ‘sublime’ player by [sports journalist](https://twitter.com/Buntingfootball) Josh Bunting – would be highly unlikely.

Having captured a goalkeeper in Forster, a winger in Perisic, a forward in Richarlison and soon-to-be a centre-back in Lenglet, the Spurs manager has already done a great job in splashing the cash in various positions, and this is what he needs to continue doing in order to maximise his squad depth.

The 52-year-old clearly isn’t afraid to go after exactly who he wants as he assembles his new-look squad ahead of the start of the new season, but at this moment in time, it seems that one of those players isn’t Tielemans.
