# Tottenham Hotspur: Troy Parrott speaks out on ambitions to play under Conte

**Tottenham Hotspur youngster Troy Parrott has spoken about his desire to return to the club and become part of Antonio Conte’s first-team ([The Irish Mirror](https://www.irishmirror.ie/sport/soccer/soccer-news/troy-parrott-eyeing-tottenham-stay-26527244)).**

### The lowdown: Stuttering career

Despite enjoying a superb youth career in north London, the 20-year-old has so far flattered to deceive in senior football, having [struggled](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/troy-parrott/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/552655) during loan spells at Ipswich and Millwall.

Already capped on [nine occasions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/troy-parrott/nationalmannschaft/spieler/552655/verein_id/3509) by the Republic of Ireland, the Dublin-born striker appeared to be in line for a real opportunity at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium when he made a Premier League debut in 2019/20.

However, having joined the League One promotion-chasers MK Dons on loan for the duration of this season, Parrot has overcome some early adversity to hit form in the second half of the campaign.

### The latest: big ambitions

MK Dons boss Liam Manning recently [hailed](https://punditarena.com/football/andrewdempsey/mk-dons-boss-hails-maturing-troy-parrott/) Parrott’s maturity for refocusing on his career priorities.

And the striker, who has [scored two goals in his last three games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/troy-parrott/leistungsdaten/spieler/552655) and six for the season, added: “I saw he said that and I agree with it.

“It’s just realising some stuff and growing up as a person and as a player.

“I can only see ways I can improve when I’m playing as many games as I have, and learning the trade.

“I want to keep improving and go back there (Tottenham) and be the best I can be.”

### The verdict: The perfect example

Albeit Parrott is yet to set the world alight at the senior level, there remains a talented player who clearly has a point to prove.

Boasting a remarkable 31 goals and six assists in just 38 appearances across Spurs’ Under 23, 19 and 18 levels, the [£3.24million valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/troy-parrott/marktwertverlauf/spieler/552655) starlet certainly knows where the goal is, racking up [12 direct goal involvements](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/troy-parrott/leistungsdaten/spieler/552655) in total this term.

Moreover, Parrott doesn’t have to search too high for inspiration as parent club teammate Harry Kane suffered [similarly lean loan spells](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/harry-kane/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/132098) away from Spurs before going on to become one of Europe’s elite frontmen.
