# Tottenham: Dean Jones cites ‘list’ of possible targets

**[Tottenham Hotspur](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/) have a ‘list’ of possible targets to pursue should Japhet Tanganga leave the club, according to [transfer insider](https://twitter.com/DeanJonesSoccer?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor) Dean Jones.**

### The lowdown: Tanganga exit links

A [product of the youth system](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/japhet-tanganga/transfers/spieler/346478) at Spurs, the 23-year-old is currently a [one-club man](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/japhet-tanganga/transfers/spieler/346478) after coming through the ranks in north London.

The England youth international has made [43 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/japhet-tanganga/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/346478) for the Lilywhites, taking his overall tally to 121 outings for the club across all levels.

However, seeming unlikely to feature prominently under Antonio Conte having [failed to get a game](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/japhet-tanganga/leistungsdaten/spieler/346478) so far this season, Tanganga has been linked with [AS Roma](https://romapress.net/spurs-japhet-tanganga-linked-with-roma/), [Inter Milan and AC Milan](https://sempremilan.com/inter-rival-milan-tottenham-defender) recently, and it has been suggested that there are already replacements lined up should he move on…

### The latest: Spurs’ ‘list’ of targets

Speaking to [GiveMeSport](https://www.givemesport.com/88052805-tottenham-will-target-late-signing-if-tanganga-leaves-hotspur-way), Jones has claimed that Tottenham already have their options in mind to come in for Tanganga if his exit from N17 is sanctioned.

The [Eurosport](https://www.eurosport.com/dean-jones_aut2710/author.shtml) journalist said: “They’ve got a list of names they’re willing to go for, but I don’t think they will go for it if Tanganga doesn’t leave, that’s my understanding anyway.”

### The verdict: Numbers needed

Even if Tanganga leaves, Conte would still have Eric Dier, Ben Davies, Cristian Romero, Clement Lenglet and Davinson Sanchez as centre-back options. However, with the Italian manager almost exclusively utilising variants of a [3-4-3](https://www.spurs-web.com/spurs-news/conte-explains-his-3-4-3-spurs-formation-in-detail-high-press-and-low-block/) formation, there is a requirement for considerable depth in the centre of defence.

As such, Tottenham have been linked with the likes of [Trevoh Chalobah](https://tbrfootball.com/tottenham-put-loan-offer-on-the-table-for-chelseas-trevoh-chalobah/), [Pau Torres](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/tottenham-news-pau-torres-lenglet-27398279) and [Rodrigo Becao](https://messaggeroveneto.gelocal.it/sport/2022/07/11/news/primo-allenamento-a-lienz-domani-test-con-il-rapid-1.41562841) in recent weeks, although those all now appear to be difficult to complete for various reasons.

Whether or not Tanganga – who was hailed as ‘[really special’](https://thisisfutbol.com/2021/08/blogs/premier-league/tottenham-hotspur/tottenham-hotspur-gary-neville-praises-japhet-tangangas-performance/) by Gary Neville – leaves Spurs, it remains possible that they could welcome more incomings into the ranks as Fabio Paratici continues to pursue attacking reinforcements in the shape of [Adama Traore](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/tottenham-adama-traore-anthony-gordon-transfer-gossip-news-updates/), [Anthony Gordon](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/tottenham-anthony-gordon-ruslan-malinovskyi-transfer-gossip-news-updates-2/) and [Ruslan Malinovskyi](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/tottenham-ruslan-malinovskyi-adama-traore-transfer-gossip-news-updates/).

The identities of the players who are on the aforementioned list is unclear, although it makes for a fascinating end to the transfer window for Tottenham.
