# Tottenham: Journalist suggests Ruslan Malinovskyi move is possible

**[Tottenham Hotspur](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/) ‘will look to do something’ in the transfer market before the window closes on Thursday night, according to journalist Ryan Taylor.**

### The lowdown: Busy summer at Tottenham

The Lilywhites have added seven players to Antonio Conte’s first team ranks so far this summer, shelling out almost £108m in the process ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tottenham-hotspur/transfers/verein/148)).

However, with [Bryan Gil](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/tottenham-transfer-news-bryan-gil-valencia-b1020156.html), [Harry Winks](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/tottenham-transfer-news-reguilon-atletico-madrid-loan-b1021403.html) and [Sergio Reguilon](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/tottenham-transfer-news-reguilon-atletico-madrid-loan-b1021403.html) all potentially on the way out before the September 1 deadline, there could still be room in the squad for further incomings.

While Spurs have been linked with a host of players including [James Maddison](https://twitter.com/pokeefe1/status/1547962733508710400?s=20&t=m7Gmkeswlo_8ogm_E4Q1JA), [Anthony Gordon](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/tottenham-anthony-gordon-ruslan-malinovskyi-transfer-gossip-news-updates/) and [Adama Traore](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/tottenham-adama-traore-anthony-gordon-transfer-gossip-news-updates/), one well-informed onlooker has suggested that Atalanta’s attacking midfielder [Ruslan Malinovskyi](https://www.tuttoatalanta.com/esclusive-ta/esclusiva-ta-il-tottenham-pronto-a-chiudere-malinovskyi-ma-l-atalanta-tratta-ad-una-condizione-78598) could be the one who ends up making the move to north London…

### The latest: Spurs could ‘look to’ sign Malinovskyi

Speaking to [GiveMeSport](https://www.givemesport.com/88052556-tottenham-might-consider-move-for-49-cap-serie-a-star-at-hotspur-way), Taylor claimed that Spurs may look to bring the [49-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ruslan-malinovskyi/nationalmannschaft/spieler/207877/verein_id/3699) Ukrainian to N17, with [reports](https://www.tuttoatalanta.com/esclusive-ta/esclusiva-ta-il-tottenham-pronto-a-chiudere-malinovskyi-ma-l-atalanta-tratta-ad-una-condizione-78598) claiming that the player wants to leave the Serie A club.

The [Daily Express](https://twitter.com/RyanTaylorSport?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor) journalist said: (Morgan) Gibbs-White, if he’s going to cost £45.5 million, what is, I know some of those are add-ons that probably won’t be achieved, but what’s Maddison worth?

“So, I don’t see that happening, but I still think Spurs will look to do something again in that creative midfield position. So, Malinovskyi might fall under consideration.

“Forest, I know, were looking at him actually before they got Gibbs-White. I think other Premier League clubs may even look at Malinovskyi.”

### The verdict: Do it

Valued at £25.2m and into the final 12 months of his contract at the Serie A club ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ruslan-malinovskyi/marktwertverlauf/spieler/207877)), signing Malinovskyi would be a wholly affordable option for the north Londoners, and a [loan deal](https://www.tuttoatalanta.com/esclusive-ta/esclusiva-ta-il-tottenham-pronto-a-chiudere-malinovskyi-ma-l-atalanta-tratta-ad-una-condizione-78598) could even be explored by Fabio Paratici.

Last season, the 29-year-old – who was described as an [‘extraordinary’](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/tottenham-transfer-news-malinovskyi-reguilon-atalanta-b1019902.html) player by Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini – scored [10 times and provided seven assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ruslan-malinovskyi/leistungsdaten/spieler/207877/plus/0?saison=2021) in 41 appearances across all competitions.

Sharing similar stylistic traits to the likes of Maddison himself, Angel Di Maria and [another Spurs target](https://www.teamtalk.com/tottenham-hotspur/hakim-ziyech-signing-star-snub-euro-giants-pushing-spurs-transfer) in Hakim Ziyech ([FBRef](https://fbref.com/en/players/48d5bd33/Ruslan-Malinovskyi)), Malinovskyi appears to have the attributes to improve Spurs’ squad, and his [impressive versatility](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ruslan-malinovskyi/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/207877) would be a welcome addition to Conte’s options in midfield.
