# Tottenham Hotspur: AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli ‘dreams’ of signing Serge Aurier

**Tottenham Hotspur defender Serge Aurier appears increasingly likely to leave north London this summer, according to [reports](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-transfer-rumours/tottenham-hotspur-serge-aurier-set-to-leave-spurs-for-serie-a-side-ac-milan-as-mourinho-rings-changes/).**

Spurs are [reportedly](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-transfer-rumours/tottenham-hotspur-serge-aurier-set-to-leave-spurs-for-serie-a-side-ac-milan-as-mourinho-rings-changes/) ready to get rid of the right-back as AC Milan and AS Monaco are considering signing the [60-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/serge-aurier/profil/spieler/127032) Ivory Coast international.

[Corriere dello Sport](https://www.corrieredellosport.it/news/calcio/calcio-mercato/2020/08/06-72534122/milan_c_e_il_si_di_aurier/) claim, as relayed by [@HotspurRelated](https://twitter.com/HotspurRelated/status/1291364726849626112), that AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli ‘dreams’ of signing the Tottenham defender in the summer. The Italian publication added that Aurier remains one of the ‘main objectives’ for the Rossoneri as they seek to shore up their defence before the start of next season.

Milan have been monitoring the 27-year-old for some time, with [Corriere dello Sport](https://www.corrieredellosport.it/news/calcio/calcio-mercato/2020/08/06-72534122/milan_c_e_il_si_di_aurier/) claiming that they have kept close tabs on the Ivory Coast captain since last year. However, the Serie A giants must sell [Davide Calabria or Andrea Conti](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-transfer-rumours/tottenham-hotspur-serge-aurier-set-to-leave-spurs-for-serie-a-side-ac-milan-as-mourinho-rings-changes/) before they can buy the ex-Paris Saint-Germain ace, while [Jose Mourinho](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-transfer-rumours/tottenham-hotspur-serge-aurier-set-to-leave-spurs-for-serie-a-side-ac-milan-as-mourinho-rings-changes/) needs to find a right-back replacement sooner rather than later.

Apparently Aurier has [already agreed](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-transfer-rumours/tottenham-serge-aurier-wants-milan-move/) to move to the San Siro as he wants to leave north London, despite becoming [Mourinho’s main man](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-transfer-rumours/tottenham-hotspur-serge-aurier-set-to-leave-spurs-for-serie-a-side-ac-milan-as-mourinho-rings-changes/) on the right flank. [The Lilywhites](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-transfer-rumours/tottenham-serge-aurier-wants-milan-move/) will not stand his way if he wants to leave, as he is reluctant to sign a new deal.

While personal terms will not be a problem, Daniel Levy is demanding that Milan pay [€20m](https://www.corrieredellosport.it/news/calcio/calcio-mercato/2020/08/06-72534122/milan_c_e_il_si_di_aurier/) (£18m), but the Serie A side believe that the Ivorian wants to join them and that the two clubs can sort out a deal.

As far as the Spurs chairman is concerned, Levy is keen to [recoup](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-transfer-rumours/tottenham-hotspur-serge-aurier-set-to-leave-spurs-for-serie-a-side-ac-milan-as-mourinho-rings-changes/) close to the price he paid to PSG for him three years ago. It remains to be seen if he will get what he wants in the summer as Spurs and Milan remain far apart in their valuation of Aurier.

It seems as though this is the start of hard negotiations but Milan do not have [the luxury](https://sempremilan.com/revenues-down-and-costs-up-twitter-thread-examines-the-dire-state-of-ac-milans-finances) of looking at other options in that position. They could end up being forced to give into [Levy’s demands](https://www.90min.com/posts/6595503-7-times-daniel-levy-tried-to-avoid-spending-money).
