# Tottenham: Sky Sports journalist makes ‘surprise’ Dan James claim

**Sky Sports journalist Micheal Bridge has made a ‘surprise’ [Tottenham Hotspur](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/) transfer claim involving Wales international Daniel James.**

### The Lowdown: Spurs linked…

The Lilywhites and their manager Antonio Conte have been linked with further moves in the transfer window despite having already sealed [eight major signings](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tottenham-hotspur/transfers/verein/148) in total.

Including a permanent deal for superstar defender Cristian Romero, Spurs have also added Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Clement Lenglet, Djed Spence and Destiny Udogie to their roster.

Speaking to [GiveMeSport](https://www.givemesport.com/88054732-tottenham-conte-given-thumbs-up-to-eye-opening-late-deal-at-hotspur-way), the reporter says that Spurs eyeing the 24-year-old comes as a ‘surprise’.

Bridge added that Conte has given the green-light for Tottenham to make a move, as the journalist [stated](https://www.givemesport.com/88054732-tottenham-conte-given-thumbs-up-to-eye-opening-late-deal-at-hotspur-way):

*“It sounds to me that it’s one Conte’s given the thumbs up to. It is a bit of an eye-opener. There is an element of surprise to it, but it seems like Tottenham are playing a certain way, aren’t they? You know, breaking on the counter-attack.”*

### The Verdict: Make the move?

Hailed by Wales boss Robert Page as [‘unbelievable’ and ‘talented’](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10656919/Robert-Page-insists-goals-come-talented-Daniel-James.html) for his displays in his country’s colours, if James were to replicate that at club level, Spurs could have a real talent on their hands.

At the very least, the 24-year-old’s ‘[frightening pace](https://www.footballinsider247.com/tottenham-news-hutton-cant-believe-sources-frightening-daniel-james-reveal/)‘ could prove an asset for Conte and a nightmare for defenders, especially in the final stages of closely-contested matches.
