An update from Spurs [which can be read on the Tottenham Hotspur website](https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/2019/july/dier-update/) revealed that Dier would be missing the club’s pre-season tour of Singapore and Shanghai. Indeed, he’ll be undergoing a medical procedure to correct an issue detected during medical assessments on the first day of pre-season.

It’s yet more misery for the defensive midfielder. The England international missed a large portion of action last season with injuries and illnesses. Despite the fact that Spurs competed in 58 competitive games last season, he featured in just 28 of those, per [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/eric-dier/leistungsdaten/spieler/175722/plus/0?saison=2018).

With fellow central midfielder Tanguy Ndombele now on board, there have also been reports from the likes of [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/revealed-man-united-make-approach-to-sign-spurs-25-yr-old-who-pochettino-will-let-go/) this summer casting doubt on Dier’s future in North London, with Manchester United [thought](https://www.footballinsider247.com/revealed-man-united-make-approach-to-sign-spurs-25-yr-old-who-pochettino-will-let-go/) to hold an interest in the former Sporting Lisbon man.

Still, judging by some of the responses below, you can see he does retain quite a bit of support from sections of the fanbase.
