Fresh from the news their manager has agreed a long-term new deal with the club, the Tottenham fans occupying the Transfer Tavern this evening have met further  reports from the [Daily Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/tottenham-eye-transfer-atletico-madrid-7854109) with delight.

With Harry Kane undoubtedly the star striker at White Hart Lane, much of the transfer talk centring around the club has been as to who will be brought in to serve as a backup for the master marksman.

A plethora of names have been spun around the proverbial rumour mill, though it is now claimed Mauricio Pochettino has turned his attentions toward the Spanish capital.

He is [thought](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/tottenham-eye-transfer-atletico-madrid-7854109) to retain an interest in Atletico Madrid forward Borja Baston, who has impressed while on at Eibar.

The 23-year old forward has notched 18 goals across all competitions this season and faces a fight to get back into the *Los Rojiblancos* team, considering their vast arrays of talent.

As a result, Spurs are [believed](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/tottenham-eye-transfer-atletico-madrid-7854109) to be keen on bringing him to North London ahead of their Champions League campaign next season.

Everton and Valencia are also [understood](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/tottenham-eye-transfer-atletico-madrid-7854109) to be eyeing him, though Spurs and the La Liga title hopefuls [reportedly](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/tottenham-eye-transfer-atletico-madrid-7854109) enjoy a good relationship following their dealings over defender Toby Alderweireld last season.
