# Everton: Toffees make Japhet Tanganga request

**[Transfer expert Gianluigi Longari](https://twitter.com/Glongari) has revealed that [Everton](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/everton-fc-news/) have now requested to sign Japhet Tanganga on loan.**

### The Lowdown: Out of favour

The 23-year-old found himself largely out of favour at Tottenham last season, playing just 19 times across all competitions and completing the full 90 minutes on just 11 separate occasions ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/japhet-tanganga/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/346478/plus/0?saison=2021&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=)).

They have recently [signed](https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/2022/july/lenglet-arrives-on-loan/) centre-back Clement Lenglet on loan from Barcelona, putting Tanganga’s future in N17 further into doubt.

### The Latest: Everton request

Taking to Twitter, [Longari](https://twitter.com/Glongari/status/1545521087915630595) has revealed that Everton, along with Southampton, have now requested to sign Tanganga on loan, but AC Milan and Napoli have also closely followed the centre-back.

Translated from Italian, the reporter tweeted: *“Many admirers for #Tanganga as anticipated last month. The #Milan but also the #Napoli closely follow the central of the #THFC which also has requests on loan from the Premier as #Southampton and #Everton . An Italian adventure teases the English defender.”*

### The Verdict: No-brainer

It certainly is a no-brainer for Everton to further bolster their defensive ranks, even after the signing of James Tarkowski on a free transfer, as the Toffees shipped [66](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/premier-league/tabelle/wettbewerb/GB1/saison_id/2021) Premier League goals last season.

Hailed as [‘really special’](https://thisisfutbol.com/2021/08/blogs/premier-league/tottenham-hotspur/tottenham-hotspur-gary-neville-praises-japhet-tangangas-performance/) by Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville after an impressive performance on the opening day of the 2021/22 campaign against Manchester City, things were looking promising for Tanganga, but he now seems to have fallen down the pecking order at Spurs.

The 23-year-old could rejuvenate his career with a season at Goodison Park, and given that it would only be a loan deal, the move has little risk attached to it from an Everton point of view.
