Speaking in a YouTube video (26:50, September 28, uploaded 5pm), reliable Tottenham Hotspur correspondent Alasdair Gold has claimed that Benfica striker Carlos Vinicius is 'still on the table' alongside Habib Diallo and his teammate Haris Seferovic, with chairman Daniel Levy eyeing two more signings before the transfer window's closure.

Vinicius, who bagged a head-turning 24 goals last season in all competitions, earning the nickname 'Beast', has been on Spurs' radar for the last few weeks according to Gold, and he may well still be an option alongside two of the star names mentioned above.

As negotiations over a deal for Milan Skriniar continue, so does the hunt for a recognised and capable back-up option to star striker Harry Kane - and the October 5 deadline is looming with Spurs running out of time to get a deal done.

However, given this latest update from Gold, Tottenham fans could perhaps become optimistic given that there a few star names being considered by the club, including Vinicius despite his lofty price tag.

If opting to lodge an official bid for the attacker, Levy will have to fork out around £46m to get a deal over the line, but this figure has dropped drastically from his originally proposed £92.1m release clause (tvi24).

This may be a huge incentive for the club to invest big money in landing the 6ft 3 forward, especially given his prolific scoring record last season, when he struck 24 goals.

As Gold explains, Vinicius is still under Spurs' watchful eye, and supporters should be hopeful that the club are setting their sights high in a bid to bring in much-needed firepower.
