Crystal Palace striker Alexander Sorloth has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham in recent days, especially following Trabzonspor president Ahmet Agaoglu’s declaration that Spurs are indeed interested along with themselves, and Football.London journalist Alasdair Gold has now provided an update on the saga.
Writing in a column after Spurs’ dismal 1-0 defeat at home to Everton on Sunday, Gold also delivered news of Daniel Levy’s alleged pursuit of Sorloth whilst giving his reaction to Jose Mourinho’s opening game of the 2020/21 season.
Which striker should Spurs sign in this transfer window?
On loan at the Turkish club from Palace, the 6 ft 4 powerhouse bagged a hugely impressive 33 goals in all competitions last season and has been linked with a move away from Selhurst Park as a result.
Agaoglu recently hinted that his club wish to make the move permanent, with Spurs also allegedly in the race, but reliable journalist Gold understands that Tottenham do not expect to sign Sorloth in this transfer window.
The likes of Habib Diallo, Carlos Vinicius and Danny Ings have been mentioned recently along with Sorloth as potential new centre-forward additions, but the former three now appear much more likely transfer prospects, according to the Spurs correspondent.
Trabzonspor, who have an option to sign the Norway international on a permanent deal for just £7m, have been accused of just wanting to ‘flip’ the player for more money, and the 24-year-old ‘king‘ could be in high demand.
Even though Sorloth is yet to open his Premier League account for Palace, struggling in his first season for the club, his explosion into form last year has made him a much sought-after figure, but it seems that Spurs may need to look elsewhere for potential striking options.
