Torino are set to offer Andrea Belotti a new contract in an attempt to fend off interest from Tottenham Hotspur, according to Calciomercato.
Tottenham want Belotti
Spurs have been linked with a move for the Italy international, with them looking at him as they attempted to bring in another striker during the summer transfer window. The Serie A outfit wanted €80m (£72.6m) for his services.
In the end, the 26-year-old stayed in Italy, and Torino are now looking to offer him a new deal. His contract contract runs out in 2022, and his club are eager to hold on to him for as long as possible.
Disappointment for Mourinho
During his time with Torino, Belotti has proven himself to be one of the best strikers in Serie A. He has managed at least ten goals in every single season with his current club, hitting 26 goals in 35 league matches at his peak during the 2016/17 campaign. This season, he continues to show his worth, scoring five goals in the first four games.
Would you like to sign Belotti?
Tottenham ended up signing Carlos Vinicius on loan, and he did do well with Benfica last season, scoring 24 goals in all competitions. Belotti, though, is a forward who has been banging in the goals for years, and for a club that is traditionally not near the top of the Italian top flight as well. A new deal wouldn’t make it impossible for him to leave, but it certainly wouldn’t make it any easier.
