Paul Stewart insists Hugo Lloris still has two or three seasons in him as Tottenham Hotspur’s first-choice goalkeeper, despite the signing of Pierluigi Gollini from Atalanta.

The France international remains Spurs’ captain and has been the undisputed first-choice in goal for the club since his arrival back in 2012.

Nevertheless, Spurs made Gollini their first signing of the transfer window, bringing him in on loan from Atalanta with the option to buy him at the end of the season.

The Italian was Atalanta’s first-choice goalkeeper for a number of years, and made 25 appearances in Serie A last season, as well as playing three times in the Champions League.

In total, he played 112 times for the Italian club, and has also been capped once by his country.

Stewart, though, doubts that he will be able to usurp Lloris, who he still ranks as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League.

Speaking exclusively to The Transfer Tavern, Stewart said: “When I spoke before about Spurs, for me Lloris has still got another couple of seasons in him, I still think he’s quality.

“I don’t have a concern about Lloris, to be honest, there’s a position where I think, yeah, he’s one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League for me.”
