Tottenham Hotspur have been urged to sell Harry Winks by Noel Whelan after a transfer development.

The Lowdown: Exit talks

As per Football Insider, Winks is in talks to leave Spurs for a rival club in the Premier League.

Fabio Paratici reportedly told the central midfield player that the North London club will listen to offers for him earlier in the summer window, and as such it looks likely that he will leave before it shuts.

The Latest: Winks sale urged

Speaking to Football Insider, Whelan, a pundit who used to play as a striker for the likes of Leeds United and Coventry City, has urged Nuno Espirito Santo's team to sell Winks, so that he can get more regular game time elsewhere:

“Yeah, I do. Not long ago he was in the England setup.

“A player with that sort of ability needs to be playing.

“If he is surplus to requirements, not going to be getting the game time and not needed by Nuno, I think the best scenario for both club and player is to get him out of the club.

“Let him persist and carry on with his career somewhere else. Let someone else get to benefit from his talent.”

The Verdict: Sell

Winks was limited to a mere 30 matches in total over all competitions across the 2020/21 season, managing just two goals and a further two assists (Transfermarkt).

The fact that he cannot cement a starting place in the side, added to the fact that he does not really offer that much of a threat in front of goal, it would be a wise idea for THFC to move him on.

Being English, 25 years of age and on £91,000-per-week, they could recoup a good amount of money for him, that could then be reinvested back into the squad.
