According to a report from The Telegraph, Leicester City winger Demarai Gray could be sold in this transfer window, with Tottenham allegedly eyeing a swoop – and Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers may consider offers from Premier League clubs.
Gray, who started just three top-flight matches last season, making the vast majority of his appearances off the substitutes’ bench, could be allowed to leave the King Power Stadium amid Tottenham’s interest in snapping up an ‘electric‘ winger.
Indeed, Sky Sports journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the Lilywhites are looking for options out wide ahead of the new season, and Gray may well fit the bill despite his lack of action in 2019/20.
As per The Telegraph, Rodgers is apparently weighing up the option to sell Gray, potentially to fund transfer activity, with Leicester’s valuation reportedly around the £20m mark.
Should Spurs land Demarai Gray for £20m?
Yes, great potential
No, far too high for him
A direct, pacy winger, Gray still made some impressive contributions off the bench for the Foxes last season, averaging 1.1 shots per game according to WhoScored.
Nevertheless, at just 24, Gray still has plenty of time to improve under Jose Mourinho if he were to make the switch, not to mention the fact that he is homegrown and can help with Spurs’ quota in that regard.
Pundit and ex-Tottenham striker Darren Bent is certainly ‘all for’ the move, stating to Football Insider recently that Gray is a player about whom supporters could become ‘excited’.
Whether or not Spurs make the move remains to be seen, but his potential may well be there for all to see.
