As per The Daily Record, there has been a big Tottenham Hotspur exit update as the club open talks to sell loanee Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers permanently.

The Lowdown: Carter-Vickers shining in Scotland...

The USA international has been indispensable for Ange Postecoglou north of the border since joining ex-Spurs goalkeeper Joe Hart at Parkhead.

Raving about Carter-Vickers to the Scottish press, Hoops team-mate Greg Taylor described the defender as 'outstanding' for his performances on the pitch whilst calling him a 'huge' part of the reason they have been successful so far over 2021/22 (The Scotsman).

As a result, the Glasgow giants are keen to tie him down permanently, and they possess a £6m purchase option which could rise as high as £10m with add-ons (The Daily Record).

The Latest: Spurs open talks over Carter-Vickers exit...

According to The Daily Record, Tottenham have now opened talks with Celtic over a permanent exit for Carter-Vickers with negotiations ongoing.

In addition, sources from the player's camp believe that Parkhead is the perfect place for the American to develop his game and keep improving away from Spurs.

The Verdict: Get it done...

Tottenham could stand to benefit from a small financial windfall if they can come to a suitable agreement with both parties, and the Lilywhites will need some off-field assistance given their mounting club debt.

Carter-Vickers has made precious few senior appearances in north London and the best solution for Spurs could certainly be to offload the 24-year-old for a profit.

There have been doubts over Celtic's ability to afford the £10m fee, but as talks remain ongoing, theoretically a compromise may not be out of the question depending on developments.

It is believed that Carter-Vickers is 'very keen' to leave Spurs for Glasgow in a permanent move, and Fabio Paratici should be doing everything possible to make that a reality.
