According to a report by reliable Football.London journalist Alasdair Gold, Tottenham have shown an interest in Red Bull Salzburg striker Patson Daka, joining three other clubs in Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United who have also been monitoring the player recently (Far Post).
Having emerged as a transfer target in the last few days, Spurs may have hit upon a prolific striker who is valued at a reasonable £20m, especially considering his brilliant 2019/20 record of 24 goals and eight assists in 31 Austrian Bundesliga matches (Transfermarkt).
Likened to Thierry Henry at one point, Daka has no shortage of admirers, with arch-rivals Arsenal, Premier League champions Liverpool and Manchester United also keeping an eye on the player.
Should Patson Daka be a top target for Spurs?
Yes, he is brilliant
Indeed, Daka can also play out wide when required, according to Gold, potentially killing two birds with one stone as the club also keep their eyes peeled for a winger this summer (Fabrizio Romano).
Bearing that in mind, £20m seems like a very fair price, and the Zambian’s link-up play could be yet another incentive to instigate a swoop. Racking up more league assists last season than Spurs midfielder Dele Alli, the youngster can provide that injection of creativity as well as a scoring threat, and the 6ft ace could also be a threat in the air.
A record-setter, Daka was the first player from his home country to score in the UEFA Champions League, with his name already etched in history at the tender age of 21.
As four Premier League giants monitor the situation, it’s imperative that Spurs get there first and aren’t left with any regrets.
