Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge has dropped a six-word Tottenham Hotspur transfer hint involving Clement Lenglet.

The Lowdown: Spurs closing in...

The 27-year-old is reliably believed to be edging closer to joining Spurs alongside defender Djed Spence of Middlesbrough, as reports suggest either or could follow the club's four confirmed Premier League signings.

Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma and Richarlison have all preceded the likes of Lenglet or Spence but it looks as if the latter two targets could certainly be up next, with some journalists even claiming the deals could be announced this weekend.

Antonio Conte, as he gears up for 2022/2023, apparently wants a left-footed central defender and wing-back for his system but a few Spurs supporters are wondering who could sign first - Spence or Lenglet?

The Latest: Bridge drops teasing Lenglet hint...

Now, Sky journalist Bridge has answered that question in a six-word Twitter message.

He explained, when asked who will win the 'race' through the door: "Lenglet has jumped the final fence."

The Verdict: Great news?

Called a potential  'big signing' for Tottenham, despite his lack of game time for Barca last season, we believe Lenglet's experience at both club and international level will be invaluable for Conte.

The Italian, as per Fabrizio Romano, is apparently 'pushing' to seal a move for the £200,000-per-week player and journalist Gerard Romero claims Spurs will pay around £115,000-per-week to bring him to north London whilst Barca foot the rest (via Spurs Web).

Conte clearly knows his own mind and bringing the 316-game defender to Hotspur Way could turn out to be a shrewd move.
