Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso has reportedly agreed to join Fiorentina as a potential exit for the Argentine edges closer, according to reports.
The Lowdown: Spurs attempt exit deals…
Who should Tottenham bring in next for Conte?
A world class centre-back
Indeed, reports have claimed that selling manager Antonio Conte’s surplus-to-requirements players is a big priority for the Premier League side with Tanguy Ndombele, Harry Winks, Sergio Reguilon and Lo Celso not part of the Italian’s plans.
As such, the Lilywhites are apparently in talks to sell the latter man as La Nazione share the latest.
The Latest: Lo Celso agrees to join Fiorentina…
Lo Celso, as per this update, has agreed to join Serie A side Fiorentina.
The Italian newspaper, via fiorentina.it, claim Spurs’ man has given the green-light to sign for them and an ‘agreement with the player already seems to be on the table’.
However, the north Londoners still need to shake hands over a club fee with the ‘negotiation’ ongoing.
The Verdict: Good news?
Lo Celso agreeing to join Fiorentina potentially puts one foot out the door, and if Spurs get offered a suitable fee for the South American, it is surely best that they accept.
The 26-year-old enjoyed a fine end-of-season loan spell at Villarreal, particularly through his Champions League performances, so there is clearly a talented player in there.
However, having been called an ‘engine’ of a player, it appears Conte does not believe he can bring that form to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and an amicable separation seems the most logical way forward.
