Tottenham Hotspur have joined the race to sign colossal Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, according to reports.

The Lowdown: Paratici working...

Under sporting director Fabio Paratici's guidance, the Lilywhites have been working relentlessly to bolster Antonio Conte's options since the 53-year-old guided Spurs to a top four Premier League finish last season.

Paratici and co completed eight major signings in total over the summer transfer window, including a permanent deal for Cristian Romero, with Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Clement Lenglet, Djed Spence and Destiny Udogie all signing for the club.

Spurs also have to think about an eventual heir to long-serving mainstay Hugo Lloris soon as the France international enters the twilight phase of his career. His contract is up in 2024, having signed a two-year extension at the beginning of this year, but Conte and Tottenham won't be able to rely on him forever.

The Latest: Conte eyeing Mamardashvili move...

According to reports, it appears that Spurs - and Conte by extension - are eyeing a move for La Liga shot-stopper Mamardashvili.

Calciomercato, as translated by Sport Witness, name the north Londoners as an interested club in the race to sign him alongside Serie A giants Juventus, with both clubs taking note after the Georgia international's rise to prominence last year.

If Paratici is to back Conte with the 22-year-old's signing at some point, there is a release clause in his current deal, but it comes at a staggering €100m (£87m).

The Verdict: Get it done?

Spurs should be able to negotiate a fee for lower than £87m, and if they opt to do so, Mamardashvili could be a brilliant eventual heir to Lloris.

The 6 foot 5 colossus appears to be one to keep an eye on in terms of Europe's most promising shot-stoppers, with this report highlighting his stellar year at Valencia over 2021/22.

Still just 22 years of age, Mamardashvili should only get better, and it's hardly surprising that Spurs have taken note of his exploits in Spain.
