Tottenham Hotspur are the 'only' side who could break the mould and sign Roma star Nicolo Zaniolo, who is currently more inclined to stay in Italy, according to reports.

The Lowdown: Spurs linked...

Over the last few weeks, Spurs and sporting director Fabio Paratici have been linked with a move for the Serie A playmaker as they remain in the market for a creative presence.

Indeed, despite already signing Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Clement Lenglet (loan) and Djed Spence this summer it is believed that the north Londoners could yet make more new Premier League additions.

The Lilywhites could also add another central defender to their roster, but according to a new claim from Italy, it appears N17 could be the most likely destination for Zaniolo apart from his current club.

The Latest: Tottenham 'only' team who could sign Zaniolo...

Indeed, as per journalist Daniele Miceli on SportMediaSet (via Tutto Juve), Spurs may be the 'only' team who could sign Zaniolo this summer given they're the sole side who are able to pay his €50 million (£42m) price tag.

Bar the Lilywhites intervening, Zaniolo seems more 'orientated' to remaining at the Stadio Olimpico as things stand.

The Verdict: Pay the fee?

£42m for a player of the 23-year-old's ilk is arguably reasonable considering he finished 21/22 as Roma's best dribbler per 90 and also attracted the most fouls (WhoScored), proving to be a real menace for opposition defenders.

The Italy international, still with many years ahead of a promising career, can prove to be a real threat on his day - leaving little wonder reporters like Carlo Garganese have called the player a 'beast'.
