Tottenham Hotspur are a plotting a second approach for Roma star Nicolo Zaniolo, according to reports from Italy.

The Lowdown: Spurs aim high...

The Premier League side have been aiming high all summer in their bid to back manager Antonio Conte and give their popular boss exactly what he requires.

Sporting director Fabio Paratici has managed to bring Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Clement Lenglet and Djed Spence through the Hotspur Way door with reports suggesting Zaniolo could follow.

The Italy international has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham in recent weeks and there has been yet another development after a first bid was reportedly rejected out of hand, according to reports.

The Latest: Lilywhites plot 'new offer' for Zaniolo...

According to journalist Ilario Di Giovambattista of Radio Radio, via Calciomercato.it, Spurs intend to launch a 'new offensive' for Zaniolo.

It is believed that the north Londoners have a 'new offer' in the pipeline, specifically a player-plus-cash move including club record signing Tanguy Ndombele.

However, for now, Roma are apparently 'blocking it' as they only want money.

The Verdict: Step up bid?

Given Zaniolo's quality, and the fact just a few weeks remain of this window, it really is now time to step up the chase and get this done.

As highlighted by WhoScored, the 23-year-old stood out as a bright attacking player in the final third - completing more successful take-ons than any Roma player and attracting the most fouls while also creating one chance per match.

Zaniolo's been called a 'prominent' player by ex-Liverpool star Moussa Sissoko, who hailed his physical prowess, and signing him could be the near-perfect end to what has been a very fruitful transfer window.
