According to an exclusive update courtesy of talkSPORT, Leicester City winger and reported Tottenham target Demarai Gray could leave the King Power Stadium before transfer deadline day on October 5 – and Spurs may well be boosted by this news as they allegedly pursue his signature.
Gray played a bit-part role for the Foxes last season but impressed when called upon, scoring two goals and assisting three others despite making the majority of his appearances from the bench (WhoScored).
Football Insider claimed that Spurs were plotting a £20m move for the attacker back in late August, and this latest update could provide Tottenham with another chance to land his signature.
A speedy, threatening option out wide, Gray would also help to fill Spurs’ homegrown quota in line with FA and UEFA regulations, but the signing of Gareth Bale on a season-long loan from Real Madrid could arguably have cooled the club’s interest for now.
Should Spurs reignite their interest in Demarai Gray?
Yes, great potential
No, don't need another winger
Regardless, with the player reportedly available for move, Gray represents another option who could add a direct threat from out wide, and former Tottenham striker Darren Bent is certainly an admirer.
As Tottenham scour the market for another striker, more wingers could be placed on the back burner for now, but Gray’s seeming availability has gifted Levy a chance to potentially pursue that option.
Whether or not he takes the plunge remains to be seen, but it would add further gloss during one of the club’s most promising transfer windows to date.
