Tottenham Hotspur, and by extension their transfer chief Fabio Paratici, are now readying a behind-the-scenes Premier League bid ahead of the summer window, according to reports.

The Lowdown: Spurs eye moves...

Spurs manager Antonio Conte is reportedly eyeing a host of new additions, including the possible signings of a reserve goalkeeper, right-wing-back, central defender, two midfielders and new forward (The Telegraph).

One name who has been repeatedly linked is Sporting Lisbon star Joao Palhinha with Paratici and co allegedly holding a serious interest in Ruben Amorim's tough-tackling ace.

The Lilywhites held an interest last year and it is believed that former boss Nuno Espirito Santo was a huge admirer of the player, even green-lighting a summer move which did not come to fruition (Football Insider).

The Latest: Paratici 'preparing' offer...

Now, according to Jornal de Noticias (via Sport Witness), it is believed that Spurs, and by extension Paratici, are 'preparing an initial offer' to sign Palhinha next window.

Indeed, as the north Londoners ready a bid behind-the-scenes, Sporting are apparently looking for around €30 million (£26m) - which includes bonuses and add-ons.

The Verdict: £26m?

We believe the Portugal international is certainly worth £26m going by his plaudits and form in the Primeira Liga over this last year.

Called a 'sensational player' by Islington Gazette reporter Josh Bunting, Palhinha is Sporting's joint-most fouled star per 90 domestically and averages more tackles every game than anyone in Amorim's squad (WhoScored).

If Conte wishes to add an assured and capable midfield man to his ranks, and real protection in front of the back four, Palhinha stands out as one of the low-cost options who could challenge the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Rodrigo Bentancur and Oliver Skipp for a place in the side next season.
