The England under-21 international had enjoyed some stellar performances before his knock, most notably on the opening day of the campaign as he managed to keep a lid on Manchester City stars Raheem Sterling and Jack Grealish during a 1-0 win.

However, following a recent period of absence, Tottenham confirmed the injury blow for Tanganga on Friday morning, with Thomas now making a transfer claim in the aftermath.

The Latest: Thomas makes 'likely' transfer claim...

Taking to Twitter, Sky Sports reporter Thomas said that Spurs and transfer chief Fabio Paratici are 'likely' to make 'at least one' new centre-back signing this summer. He explained:

"Shame for Tanganga that he is out for the rest of the season.

"Another youngster who'd made more progress this season but will need to prove himself again in pre-season and likely with at least one new centre-back in the door at Tottenham."

The Verdict: Interesting news...

News of Spurs being 'likely' to add at least one new centre-back to Antonio Conte's ranks comes as interesting news after the blow to Tanganga.

The Lilywhites have been linked with the likes of Sven Botman and Alessandro Bastoni of late, and it's safe to say that signing either of those would seriously hamper Tanganga's chances of playing regularly in north London, with the 22-year-old only starting sporadically as it is.

Depending on developments, it wouldn't be a huge surprise to maybe see him heag out on loan for the 2022/23 season.
