Sky Sports pundit Kevin Campbell believes Tottenham will ‘lose’ captain Harry Kane despite Antonio Conte coming in as manager, Football Insider report.

Kane was involved in a transfer saga over the summer with links of a move to Manchester City.

The 28-year-old, who still has two-and-a-half years left on his north London deal, did all he could to get a move off the ground, however, he ended up remaining at Spurs with Daniel Levy unwilling to drop his asking price.

Rumours have since emerged of a possible January move to the Etihad for Kane, with Pep Guardiola still in the market for a striker.

Conte is the new man in charge in the capital, though, and Kane, who Jamie Carragher called 'streetwise', is thought to be excited about what the future holds at Spurs under his leadership.

The Latest: Campbell’s comments

Campbell, who regularly features for Sky Sports, was talking to Football Insider specifically on Kane following Conte’s arrival.

He said that Spurs ‘are going to lose Kane’, who called former manager Nuno Espirito Santo ‘great’ back in the summer.

“They are going to lose Harry Kane.

“He is not there anyway. His mind is elsewhere.

“This is the conundrum and I’m going to say it, Harry Kane being at Spurs right now is a problem. He wants out. He has got beef with Levy because he broke a gentleman’s agreement.

“It has never been about the managers. Now, another manager has come in. Is Conte going to play Kane if he knows he wants out? I don’t know if he will. It is such a tough situation.”

The Verdict: Next six months key?

If Spurs fail to make any progress under Conte between now and the end of the current campaign, then Kane may well explore a summer exit once again.

He’s still yet to win a trophy in north London, but Tottenham appear to have a good chance of ending their long wait for silverware in the Europa Conference League, while also being in the last eight of the Carabao Cup.

On that basis, a first piece of silverware for Kane at Tottenham could be massive in regards to keeping him at the club long term, but Campbell thinks his ‘mind is elsewhere’.
