Tottenham Hotspur face competition from Arsenal to sign Dejan Zukic in the summer.
According to the Daily Star, five Premier League clubs including Arsenal, Tottenham, Everton, Leicester and Southampton are all monitoring the Serbian wonderkid.
Zukic has enjoyed a stellar breakthrough season with Vojvodina Novi Sad and has attracted attention from scouts all across Europe. The midfielder has even drawn comparisons with his countryman Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who currently plays for Lazio. The 25-year-old is also in-demand as the transfer window approaches.
Olympiakos and Inter Milan have already enquired about the youngster but he could be possibly on his way to the Premier League, as there are five English clubs who are keeping an eye on the evolving situation.
The Lilywhites are reportedly showing the most interest, which is hardly surprising given the fact that Jose Mourinho is well aware he will be severely restricted by a tight budget in the transfer market.
Furthermore, Spurs have borrowed a huge £175m loan from the Bank of England to cover the costs of the financial pressures brought on by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Although the Serb is largely unproven at the top levels of the game, he has still scored four goals in 25 games in the Serbian SuperLiga, and the teenager will become a free agent when his deal runs out.
As Zukic will be available for free, he is surely a cheaper option than the likes of Chelsea’s winger Willian, and in the unlikely event that a move doesn’t work out as planned, the Lilywhites will have gained a prospect for no extra cost if a transfer is agreed.
