According to a report by Italian news outlet Calciomercato, Juventus could table up to three players, including ex-Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey, in an offer to sign Tottenham star Tanguy Ndombele – and manager Jose Mourinho has been a big fan in the past.
The 29-year-old, who is deemed out of favour and ‘unwanted‘ by new manager Andrea Pirlo at Juventus, could be offered to Spurs in a swap deal for Ndombele – with other options being wingers Federico Bernardeschi and Douglas Costa.
Would you take Aaron Ramsey at Spurs?
Yes, genuine quality
While some Spurs supporters would probably consider Ramsey as the least likely of the bunch to entice chairman Daniel Levy with such a swap, manager Mourinho has been a huge admirer over the last few seasons – particularly during his tenure at Man United.
According to the Sun, back in 2018, Tottenham’s gaffer instructed United’s vice-chairman Ed Woodward to sign Ramsey as part of a squad overhaul, with the report going on to mention he regarded the Welshman as a ‘better option than Pogba’ for a Red Devils rebuild.
Since opting for the Old Lady over Old Trafford, Ramsey has found life difficult at points, especially last season, where the majority of his Serie A appearances came off the bench (WhoScored).
Now, with Juve looking to offload, Spurs could have a chance to make one of the shock moves of the summer and hand Ramsey an unlikely Premier League return – with the price tag currently valued at around £19.8 million by Transfermarkt.
The move, however, would mean letting Ndombele go other way – and Levy is unlikely to let that happen for a reduced fee and ex-rival ace.
