Tottenham Hotspur: Alexander Sorloth set for switch to either Spurs or Manchester United - Tottenham Hotspur Transfer Rumours

Norwegian striker Alexander Sorloth is set to move to either Tottenham Hotspur or Manchester United in the current transfer window, that is according to a report from Turkish outlet Asist Analiz.

The news comes after Sport Buzzer confirmed that the 24-year-old was set to undergo a medical ahead of a transfer to Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig, but that has been cancelled at short notice and he will now move to either Spurs or the Red Devils.

Sorloth will be no stranger to fans of either club, given he has previously played in the Premier League for Crystal Palace. However it is fair to say he flopped at Selhurst Park, scoring just one goal in 20 appearances in all competitions for the Eagles.

Who did Villas-Boas replace as Spurs manager in 2012?

However, since his ill-fated spell in England he has been plying his trade for Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super Lig where he has excelled. Indeed in 49 appearances he has rattled in an impressive 33 goals, whilst also chipping in with 11 assists and he is now valued at £18m.

It is common knowledge that Tottenham need another striker to share the load with star man Harry Kane and following the recent arrivals of Sergio Reguilon and Gareth Bale, Jose Mourinho suggested he still wanted to add another two players to his squad.

Given Spurs are in four competitions this season, they cannot rely solely on Kane to play every game. It would be too much on his body and they will not want a repeat of last season when he picked up a serious hamstring injury (BBC Sport).

Adding Sorloth would therefore be smart business. At 24 he is approaching his peak years and whilst it didn’t work out at Palace, he has gone away and improved his game and over the last few years has become a clinical finisher.

He could prove to be an adequate back up option to the England captain should he move to north London and not Old Trafford, ensuring that Mourinho has good strength in depth in that centre-forward position.
