Barcelona B midfielder Lucas de Vega has ‘dreams’ of a move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer, and a deal could well be close.
The 20-year-old Brazilian native began his career with Barca’s famed La Masia academy before stepping up to the Catalan club’s second string last summer.
A season-long loan spell with lower league side Cartegena saw him gain experience of first team football and he since returned to Barca ahead of the new season.
With his future unknown moving forward, the 20-year-old has now revealed where he would like to play his football in the coming years.
La Verdad, report that Cartegena have admitted defeat in trying to pursue a second loan move and that De Vega’s salary would increase to his appearances for the club.
The report also adds that there are other “important” clubs keeping an eye on the midfielder and one of those is said to be Spurs, who De Vega has said is his ‘dream’ club. Sporting Gijon, Tenerife and Malaga are also interested, but he apparently has his heart set on a move to England.
De Vega made 24 appearances in all competitions last season for Cartegena, netting two goals in the process.
De Vega is certainly a player with potential, indeed he has represented Barcelona four times in the UEFA Youth League, scoring one goal in the process (Transfermarkt).
It looks as though his future is uncertain and if Spurs can come to a reasonable agreement for his services, he could certainly be worth taking a punt on. If he were to move to north London, it is likely that he would initially play for the English club’s second string in the Premier League 2.
