Speaking to Sky Sports, journalist Dharmesh Sheth has said that “there is interest from Tottenham and Everton” in Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey – and the reporter has explained that ‘someone close‘ to Bailey has confirmed the Premier League duo’s stance.
Bailey, who has also attracted past interest from the likes of Man United and Man City, with the latter club previously on the look-out for a Leroy Sane replacement before capturing Ferran Torres, is now being tipped with a potential move to either Everton or Spurs.
Would you sign Leon Bailey for Spurs to the tune of £40m?
Yes, get it done Levy
No, so overrated
The Jamaica international, starting just 12 Bundesliga matches for Leverkusen last campaign, has seemingly done enough to warrant consideration from some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs.
Sky Sports transfer guru Fabrizio Romano first broke Tottenham’s interest in Bailey during an episode of the Last Word on Spurs podcast recently, with the Italian claiming that he is a player ‘[Jose] Mourinho likes so much‘.
Described as an ‘exceptional’ asset with ‘rare’ speed and technique (Bundesliga), Bailey’s performances in the German top flight have also drawn comparisons with ex-Mourinho signing Arjen Robben – but the 23-year-old will come at a high price for chairman Daniel Levy and co.
Sheth, revealing this information to Sky, claims that Leverkusen value the player at around £40 million – and it is unclear whether Spurs would be willing to pay a fee that high.
Whether or not they take the plunge remains to be seen, but there is apparently ‘interest from Tottenham‘.
