According to Spanish news outlet Fichajes, there has been another update on Tottenham Hotspur's hunt for a new central defender involving Bayern Munich star Niklas Sule.

The Lowdown: Sule on the move...

As confirmed by Bayern chief executive Oliver Kahn, as relayed by Fabrizio Romano, the towering 6 foot 5 powerhouse has now decided to leave the Bundesliga later this year with his contract expiring in the summer.

Sule could now sign for Premier League clubs as a free agent at the end of 2021/2022 in what may be a steal for any side who takes the plunge, especially if they're in dire need of centre-back options.

The likes of West Ham have even been linked with a move previously for the Germany international and it appears Tottenham have him firmly in their sights.

The Latest: Spurs 'preparing' offer...

According to Fichajes, Tottenham are one of three Premier League sides 'preparing' an offer to sign Sule as a free agent in the summer.

This apparently comes after after an urgent request from manager Antonio Conte, who has 'asked' the Spurs board for a signing at the back.

The free agent market is apparently something transfer chief Fabio Paratici has 'always taken advantage of'.

The Verdict: No brainer...

Spurs were previously linked with a move for potential 2022 free agent Antonio Rudiger from Chelsea, but Sule could be a much more realistic Bosman signing to pull off given he has no ties to direct rivals.

£31.5 million by Transfermarkt, Paratici and co could now bypass that fee entirely by signing him later this year and he will be worth the effort.

An established international with 37 caps so far at just 26-years-old, his manager Julian Nagelsmann has called Sule 'unbelievable', with the player's versatility also a big incentive to move.

He can operate in both central defence and out wide as a full-back, potentially plugging many holes for Conte in Spurs' defence.
