According to an exclusive report courtesy of Football Insider, Bournemouth have submitted a bid to take young central defender Cameron Carter-Vickers on a season-long loan deal – with Spurs now potentially entering talks over the ‘fantastic’ 6ft 1 international star.
Should Spurs loan out Carter-Vickers?
Yes, great experience at Bournemouth
No, he can fight for a place under Mourinho
Despite impressing for Luton Town at the back-end of last campaign under new boss Nathan Jones, becoming a colossal figure as the Championship minnows swerved relegation, rumours of a new contract have failed to come to light – and a potential stint at Bournemouth could be his last chance for a seat at the table.
The USA defender, who can be deployed as a centre-back and right-back, looks unlikely to get in Jose Mourinho’s team next season ahead of fellow youngsters Japhet Tanganga and Juan Foyth who can also play in his position.
Bearing that in mind, the Cherries could be a match made in heaven given their need for a centre-back after selling Nathan Ake to Man City.
Indeed, Bournemouth have lost a plethora of star names since relegation to England’s second tier – including Callum Wilson, Ryan Fraser, Aaron Ramsdale, Ake and potentially more.
Now, with news that the south coast club could be looking to strengthen by bringing in Carter-Vickers, the 22-year-old would do well to help guide them back to the Premier League.
Whether or not Spurs do successfully complete the deal remains to be seen, but this move could be good experience as the last year of Carter-Vickers’ contract looms.
