According to a report from the Guardian, former Spurs star and rumoured target Christian Eriksen has been denied a sensational return to the Premier League with Chelsea after the club rejected a proposed swap deal with Inter Milan for N’Golo Kante.
Eriksen, after recently being at the centre of an enquiry from Tottenham, has now been denied an alternative move back to England with their London rivals.
Should Eriksen have left Spurs?
Yes, he wanted out
No, he made a mistake
However, immediately following up on the whisper, Inter confirmed to Romano that they would not entertain selling him back to Spurs – with Chelsea now the latest club to deny Eriksen after his fall out of favour under Antonio Conte.
Indeed, the Serie A giants reportedly proposed a swap deal involving the £100,000-per-week star after Chelsea rubbished the same offer with Marcelo Brozovic instead.
Frank Lampard’s side, after swiftly rejecting the Brozovic deal, told Inter they are not interested in Eriksen either – with the Blues determined to keep hold of star midfielder Kante as the 2020/2021 Premier League campaign gets underway (The Guardian).
Singing for the Nerazzurri from Tottenham in January, in a deal worth an arguable bargain £16.9 million, Eriksen has found life difficult in Italy – starting just eight league matches over the latter half of the 2019/2020 season (WhoScored).
Scoring a goal but managing just two assists in that time, Eriksen arguably hasn’t been given the chance to replicate his former Spurs glory, and this latest Guardian update could put his future into further doubt.
