According to a report from Football Insider, Spurs have been offered the chance to re-sign star playmaker Christian Eriksen - gifting chairman Daniel Levy an opportunity to secure the return of another club legend on loan alongside Gareth Bale, with Inter paying 50% of his £200,000-per-week salary.

It has been quite the transfer window for Tottenham even before deadline day, with the club securing deals for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Matt Doherty, Joe Hart, Sergio Reguilon, Carlos Vinicius and the sensational return of icon Bale.

Now, Football Insider report that Spurs could land yet another Lilywhites legend in ex-playmaker Eriksen - as Inter Milan are keen to offload the Dane in a bid to trim their wage bill.

While this rumour would appear unlikely given Tottenham's business in the attacking areas, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano hinted to the Last Word on Spurs podcast last month that Levy had asked about taking him back - as per one of his sources at the time.

However, while there may have been past intrigue, Spurs have already landed Vinicius and Bale as stellar further attacking options - with the only incentive to swoop being the lack of a creative midfield player.

Star man Dele Alli, who has been linked with a move away this window, looks more and more likely to remain - and it's now debatably a long shot that Spurs will take the Serie A giants up on their offer to take Eriksen back, given Alli's presence.

Described as 'amazing' by ex-Lilywhites boss Mauricio Pochettino, the Danish star's quality would certainly help Spurs in their quest to win a trophy, but Levy would still have to fork out £100,000-per-week wages.

As per recent reports, Tottenham need to offload players in an effort to offset heavy spending, so it now looks unlikely Levy would be willing to pay Eriksen's large salary.
