Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing RB Leipzig midfielder Marcel Sabitzer this summer, that is according to talkSPORT presenter Alex Crook.
The journalist has suggested that a contact of his believes that Spurs are trying to pull off a transfer “coup” by luring the 26-year-old to north London ahead of the 2020/21 Premier League season.
“I’ve just been sent something from a contact of mine…” 👀

However, he also added that a “host of top clubs” are also interested in the Austrian international, so Tottenham could well face stiff competition for his signature if they are trying to get him.
Sabitzer has enjoyed an outstanding season for Leipzig in 19/20 and has netted 16 goals in 43 appearances in all competitions, whilst also racking up an impressive 11 assists on top of that (Transfermarkt).
Two of his goals came against Tottenham in the last 16 of the Champions League, so it could well be that his performance in that game has led to interest coming from Jose Mourinho and Daniel Levy.
There is no doubting that he would certainly improve the Spurs squad and would add much more of a goal threat from midfield. Indeed whilst Dele Alli managed nine strikes last term, their other central midfielders (Giovani Lo Celso, Harry Winks, Moussa Sissoko and Tanguy Ndombele) managed just six goals between them. He would also add versatility having played a variety of positions this term including centre midfield, attacking midfield and right wing.
However, the 42-time Austria international would certainly not come cheap with his market value currently estimated at £31.5m. Added to that, it was reported back in March that Spurs were interested in the player and at the time Leipzig wanted a minimum of £45m for the player.
Given that Mourinho has admitted that the club will not spend “rivers of money” in this window (Sky Sports via Daily Mail), it may be that the playmaker is out of their price range at the moment.
