All associated with Tottenham Hotspur would have been sad to see Jan Vertonghen’s career at the club come to an end as he left this summer and joined Benfica following his contract expiring. However the club need to be quick to find a replacement and there has been some positive news around one of their transfer targets in this position.
According to TuttoSport, via @Daily_Hotspur, Milan Škriniar, who the club have been linked with a fair bit this summer, is a player that Serie A side Inter Milan are likely to sell before the 20/21 campaign.
No offers have been made by the North London side for the centre-back but this is definitely positive news for the club if they want to pursue the target.
The £43.2 million valued player has made 128 appearances for Inter, scoring four and assisting four along the way, per Transfermarkt, and last season he was a rock in defence as he managed on average 1.2 tackles and 2.6 clearances in his 32 Serie A appearances, via WhoScored.
He is also only 25, so to be playing at a very good level and also have good experience in the Champions League and Europa League highlights that this would be a good signing for Spurs if they were able to pull it off.
He would definitely help fill the gap left by Vertonghen and would strengthen their squad greatly, and with Inter looking to sell, Jose Mourinho should be pushing heavily for an offer to be made.
