According to an exclusive report from Football Insider, Tottenham could be set to table an offer for Benfica striker Haris Seferovic following the club and chairman Daniel Levy’s need for a new striker – but are reportedly unwilling to go for a permanent deal and will instead opt to negotiate a loan.
Seferovic, who has bagged an impressive 19 international goals for his country in 65 appearances, has been in somewhat dwindling form over the last season – coming after a huge 2018/2019 campaign in Liga NOS.
Indeed, before a diminished 19/20 season where he only managed five goals and four assists in 30 appearances, Seferovic was on fire over the previous campaign – bagging 23 strikes and assisting six in the league alone (Transfermarkt).
Should Spurs sign Seferovic on loan?
Yes, 100%, next level
No, we can do far better
Given he displayed his undoubted quality two seasons ago, even despite a severe drop the year after, Levy and co are now contemplating a swoop for the Swiss attacker and could table a loan offer imminently.
Exclusive sources tell Football Insider that Tottenham are ready to launch a swoop, with reliable football.london correspondent Alasdair Gold confirming recently that Seferovic is on the club’s list of striking candidates.
As well as the 28-year-old, his shining teammate Carlos Vinicius is being considered along with FC Metz striker Habib Diallo and Napoli hitman Arkadiusz Milik.
Deadline day is just under a week away, and given Tottenham’s need for a back-up to star asset Harry Kane, Spurs are now considering a loan move for Seferovic who was once described as ‘full-blooded’ by ex-Switzerland coach Ottmar Hitzfeld (Reuters).
This tag could hint at the 6ft 1 powerhouse being an alternative Spurs need to provide much needed potency off the bench.
