Speaking to FootballFanCast, pundit Dean Windass has backed Spurs and Daniel Levy to sign Luka Modric either in January or next summer – with news emerging that the Galacticos star has been contacted personally by Jose Mourinho.
The Croatian’s current deal expires at the end of this season, with talks ongoing over an extension but it is still unclear whether or not he will, in fact, put pen to paper.
Windass tips Modric move
In light of this development, as well as the reports that Mourinho phoned the playmaker in an attempt to sway his signature, Windass has backed Spurs to make the move happen – claiming Modric would be an ‘unbelievable’ addition.
“Say no more. That would be unbelievable, wouldn’t it?,” explained the pundit to FFC.
“That would strengthen the side. Would he come back? I don’t know what relationship he had [with Jose].
“Listen, he’s a great player isn’t he? wow. Hopefully [he’ll return], we all want to see the best players in the Premier League, and he’s certainly one of them.”
Transfer Tavern take
Lauded as a ‘genius‘ by former Chelsea goalkeeper and current teammate Thibaut Courtois, there is little arguing that a Modric return to Spurs could be sensational.
Levy has already secured a reunion for club icon Gareth Bale, so you certainly wouldn’t rule out what would be a wonderful bit of business.
In other news: Tottenham were also tipped to land this ‘crazy’ 6 ft 6 beast in January, find out more here.
