Tottenham Hotspur: Darren Bent urges Spurs to sign Odsonne Edouard - Tottenham Hotspur Transfer Rumours

Speaking to Football Insider, talkSPORT regular Darren Bent has urged Spurs to sign Celtic star Odsonne Edouard – coming after the same outlet recently revealed that the Hoops will take £15 million less than what they were demanding in the summer.

Edouard, who has arguably been one of the consistent vocal points in an otherwise regrettable campaign for Neil Lennon so far, scoring seven goals and assisting two others in just 12 SPFL starts (WhoScored), was linked with a summer move to Tottenham.

Bent urges Edouard swoop for Spurs

Indeed, the Times claimed that Jose Mourinho and co were lining up a swoop for Edouard in 2020 whilst also revealing that the Lilywhites scouted him regularly.

Now, after Football Insider shared news that Celtic are willing to accept £25m for the forward, a big drop from the £40m they wanted last year, Bent has touted Spurs as real suitors and urged them to potentially make a move.

“There’s loads of teams out there that need goals,” explained Bent to Football Insider.

“I mean, he might be a good backup, for £25million, he could be a back up for Harry Kane at Tottenham, so that’s a good’un there. There’s going to be a few teams in for him.”

Transfer Tavern take

On Boxing Day, Lennon worshipped the efforts of Edouard for Celtic despite their disappointing season overall so far – calling the 6 foot 2 star ‘magnificent’ in a press conference after a 3-0 victory over Hamilton (Glasgow Live).

Time will tell whether he does emerge as an eventual option for Spurs, but it would certainly be a coup by Daniel Levy.
