According to Calciomercato, managing director Fabio Paratici now has one eye on another defensive star for Tottenham as news emerges on Borussia Monchengladbach colossus Matthias Ginter.

The Lowdown: Paratici era begins...

The summer transfer window saw an overhaul taking place at Tottenham with many making way out of N17 and being replaced by astute additions.

Indeed, Paratici's first stab at the market for Spurs saw him bring in the likes of Pierluigi Gollini, Bryan Gil, Pape Matar Sarr, Cristian Romero and Emerson Royal (Transfermarkt).

It appears the Italian transfer chief, however, isn't quite finished there.

The Latest: Paratici now eyeing Ginter...

As per Calciomercato, Spurs are now eyeing Monchengladbach star Ginter amid his current contract debacle.

The 27-year-old, who has amassed 44-caps for Germany, could leave on a free deal next summer as it stands with his deal expiring in 2022.

This has alerted Tottenham and Paratici with European giants Real Madrid and Bayern Munich also taking note.

The Verdict: Get it done...

Amid Nuno Espirito Santo's current selection crisis, it is little wonder Paratici already has one eye on the transfer market for future reference to avoid such scenarios.

Ginter comes as a brilliant possible option to bolster Tottenham's backline, especially given he has been described as a 'leader' by Germany legend Lothar Matthaus and even as a player 'similar' to Sergio Ramos (Sky Germany via Bundesliga).

Indeed, the 6 foot 3 powerhouse may be able to add some steel to Spurs' backline alongside summer signing Romero.
