After a summer proposal from Tottenham Hotspur, reliable reporter Fabrizio Romano has shared what Inter Milan star Lautaro Martinez 'will soon' do.

The Lowdown: Spurs agree Martinez fee...

As per reports from The Times and Alasdair Gold, Spurs agreed a fee of £60 million with Inter for the signing of Martinez during the last summer transfer window.

However, after the Serie A giants sold star striker Romelu Lukaku, they seemingly pulled a U-turn on the deal and did not allow the Argentine to leave Italy after all.

Indeed, new Inter boss Simone Inzaghi would have been bereft of class attacking options should they have sold to Spurs, with Romano now sharing an update on Martinez' future.

The Latest: Romano drops Martinez update...

Taking to Twitter, Romano has revealed what the 24-year-old 'will soon' do after Tottenham's move fell through in the summer.

He claims that the forward, who bagged 19 goals and 11 assists in all competitions (Transfermarkt), is now on the verge of extending his contract with Inter until 2026.

"Lautaro Martinez will soon extend his contract with Inter until June 2026," Romano explains.

"The agreement is at final stages and set to be signed - increased salary after turning down Tottenham and Atletico Madrid proposals."

The Verdict: Big blow for Spurs...

Signing Martinez would have been managing director Fabio Paratici's most deadly masterstroke yet, especially considering one Lionel Messi has branded him 'spectacular' (talkSPORT).

Alas, to sign a capable striking alternative to Harry Kane, it appears Spurs are slowly running out of options with another summer striking target, Dusan Vlahovic, also in talks over a fresh contract.
