Many Tottenham Hotspur fans have been discussing transfer news from Soccer Link (via Ricky Sacks) that Jose Mourinho has personally contacted Max Aarons with the view for the north London club to sign him from Norwich City in this summer’s transfer window.
The Portuguese coach would like the 20-year old to compete with Serge Aurier for the right-back spot next season. Some supporters were asking on Twitter whether this could be considered as ‘tapping up‘ depending on whether the Canaries knew anything about this.
Nevertheless, Aarons could prove to be a shrewd piece of business if a deal goes through. Comparing the Englishman’s stats to those of Serge Aurier and other reported target Thomas Meunier in their respective domestic leagues this campaign, Aarons averages more blocks and has been fouled the most times, according to Whoscored. However, the latter two do beat him in other key areas.
These members of the Spurs faithful discussed the news, with a few Lilywhites suggesting that Mourinho was ‘tapping up’ the defender:
Isn’t that tapping up

Will leave Aurier standing!

That’s tapping up a player and cannot be done. No way we will sign if we are so strongly linked with munier…
