Tottenham Hotspur have opened up discussions with Lazio about Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, according to the Daily Mail.
Spurs boss Jose Mourinho is a long-time admirer of the attacking midfielder and has told the board he would like to bring him to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the summer.
After arriving at the Stadio Olimpico from Genk for £16.2m in 2015, Milinkovic-Savic has emerged as one of Europe’s brightest talents in recent years, making 25 appearances in Serie A this season, scoring 4 goals, providing 4 assists, taking 2 shots per game, averaging 1.2 key passes, and completing at least 1 dribble on average in the Italian top flight (via WhoScored).
However, it appears Mourinho will have to battle with his former clubs Chelsea and Manchester United, who are set to launch rival bids for the Serbian international when the transfer window opens.
As expected, many Lilywhites drooled over the latest transfer news on Twitter, with one fan commenting “he is world class,” and another simply saying “please.”
